Gaza(The Inside Palestine)- Journalist Support Committee (JSC) stated on Tuesday that the Israeli occupation forces committed more than 255 violations against the Palestinian journalists during May as well as killed a cameraman in Gaza.

The committee said in a report that it recorded the highest rate of violations against media freedoms in May since the beginning of 2021 as the Israeli occupation targeted hundreds of journalists in its latest military attack on Gaza.

It also recorded more than 93 violations against the Palestinian story from the social media administrations as they responded to the occupation government to put restrictions over the Palestinian content and consider it an incitement of violence.

It documented 101 violations of men and women journalists during the latest Israeli military attack on Gaza; they varied between the killing of a Palestinian journalist Yousef Abo Hussein, 33, by targeting his home, injuring others, and destroying media institutes.

It recorded 56 media institutes, production companies, and libraries were destroyed, 23 homes belonging to men and women journalists bombed, and 5 press vehicles targeted.

The committee documented 154 violations of journalists in Jerusalem, West Bank, and occupied territories; more than 70 injuries were recorded due to the occupation’s use of rubber bullets and gas canisters, beating them hard, and pumping wastewater to prevent them from doing the coverage in Jerusalem and Sheikh Jarrah.

It mentioned that the Israeli occupation deported more than 15 journalists and writers from the Al-Aqsa mosque, and issued decisions of administrative detention for 10 others.

It also recorded that the Israeli occupation forces stormed 4 homes belonging to journalists and writers, prevented 42 others from public reporting, and destroyed 8 vehicles, tools, cameras, and phones.

It said in the report that 4 cases of journalists arrested in the Israeli prisons were subjected to repression and suppression; they were beaten hard and prevented from meeting their lawyers.

Regarding the Palestinian Authority, the security forces in West Bank arrested 3 journalists and threatened 2 others.
