Ramallah (The Inside Palestine)- The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) continues to detain about 4,900 Palestinian prisoners, including 31 women and 160 children under age 18.
This came in a report issued on Sunday on the occasion of the Palestinian Prisoner’s Day by the Palestinian Commission of Detainees’ and Ex-Detainees’ Affairs, the Palestinian Prisoner Society, Addameer Prisoner Support and Human Rights Association, and Wadi Hilweh Information Center in Jerusalem.
Among those 4,900 prisoners, there are more than 1,000 administrative detainees, including six children and two women, according to the report.
There are also 23 long-serving prisoners who were arrested before the signing of Oslo accords in 1993, the report pointed out.
The Palestinian institutions accused the IOA and its different apparatuses of developing more tools of abuse and increasing their violations against the Palestinian prisoners in order to strip them of their effectiveness and undermine their struggle for their rights.
